Paterson Woman Found Murdered in Newark

NEWARK, NJ – A 22-year-old Paterson woman was found strangled to death early Sunday morning near a highway entrance ramp in Newark, according to the Essex County prosecutor’s office.
Chrismely A. Hidalgo, who was the mother of one young girl, was discovered near the Route 22 ramp at Empire Street in South Newark, according to authorities. Her family had reported her missing on January 26, authorities said.
“It’s not clear at this time whether or not she had business in Newark or her reason for being here,’’ said Katherine Carter, spokeswoman for the Essex County prosecutor’s office.
Carter declined to say who found Hidalgo. She was pronounced dead at 2:45 am.
The case is being investigated by the Newark Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/ Major Crimes Task Force.
