Paterson Pedestrian Shot on 10th Ave. Tuesday Morning

PATERSON, NJ - A Paterson man is reported to be in stable condition at St. Joseph's Medical Center Tuesday after being knocked out with a blunt object and then shot early Tuesday morning.
According to Sgt. Ivette Otero, the victim, a 27-year-old Hispanic male, was walking on 10th Avenue between East 26th and East 27th streets at around 1:30 a.m. when he was struck from behind with an unknown object that temporarily caused him to lose consiousness. When he awoke, the man realized he had been shot in the upper back on the left side.
The victim was transported to the hospital by his girlfriend. The man also suffered injuries to the face and head from the attack that presumably preceded the shooting.
The incident is still under investigation, and no information has been given about the suspect(s) in the case. According to Lt. Patrick Murray, detectives are canvassing the area for surveillance footage and interviewing area residents.
