Other than the lead role, the children will only be appearing in the production’s opening number.
Beginning at 9 a.m., audition sign-ups will take place in the theater’s lobby on a first-come, first-served basis. Children and their guardian should join the line in front of the theater and enter through the front doors of the theater only. Every child should bring a picture and resume stapled together. Depending on the number of children auditioning, there is no guarantee everyone will be seen.
The children will be taught a short piece of music from the show which they will be asked to sing, and they should wear appropriate footwear as they may also be asked to dance.
Callbacks will be held on the same day.
Most of the rehearsals will take place in New York City. The rehearsal schedule begins on Monday, Oct. 28.
“Oliver!” will run at the Millburn theater from Thursday, Nov. 21 through Sunday, Dec. 29. There are no Monday or Tuesday performances, except for Dec. 24. The cast will also have off on both Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day off.
“Students who have appeared on the Paper Mill Playhouse stage have gone on to have major careers on stage, in movies and on television,” commented Paper Mill Playhouse’s Producing Artistic Director, Mark S. Hoebee. “This is a wonderful opportunity for young people to be a part of a professional production and perform on the legendary Paper Mill stage.”
