BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - The sun was shining bright for the 11th Annual Rubber Ducky Festival, organized and run by the Rotary Club of Berkeley Heights and the Boy Scouts on Saturday, May 31 at Passaic River Park.

Boy Scout Troops 368, 69 and 56 played an integral role in the event. They launched over 4,000 ducks in the annual race down the Passaic River.  Although the wind was high, the river remained calm for this year's race. The winning duck's adoptive owner was awarded the grand prize of a Samsung 46" TV.

The scouts arrived early greeting the vendors and ready to help where needed -- transporting tables and supplies as they arrived to the field.

The carnival of games was fully operated by the scouts as they entertained kids with games that included Pinewood Derby car racing, frog flinging, mini golf, balloon pop and the popular dunk tank to name a few.  They demonstrated the essentials to camping with grilling, pitching a tent, and other necessary camping lessons. Other scouting activities included building the "monkey bridge", made of string. This demonstration showed how scouts work together to effectively find solutions using minimal supplies.

Along with the fun activities run by the Boy Scouts, Passaic Field was filled with vendors from local businesses and organizations as well as cars participating in the Classic & Custom Car Show. Duckfest 14 entertained the crowd with DJ music and the talents of local bands including: Splittree, Jackson Kingsley and Zodiac.

The Rubber Ducky Festival is a fundraiser that benefits the projects supported by the Rotary Club that include Gov. Livingston High School senior scholarships, supplying dictionaries and thesauruses to third and sixth grade students, Medic Alert for over 200 area solo senior citizens, and helping over 500 Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.

Sponsors of the 2014 11th Annual Rubber Ducky Festival include: Primrose School of Berkeley Heights, Summit Medical Group, Investors Bank, The Alternative Press.com, Door Boy and Taylor Rental.  The Suburban Chamber of Commerce along with Berkeley Heights Recreation Department also contributed to the event.
