CHATHAM, NJ - Here is an inside look of the Chatham High football team from one of its members, junior center Mike Mulford.
My Thoughts: Cougar Night is one of the best times of the year. As a kid, you dream about playing on Cougar Night, under the lights and in front of a huge crowd cheering for you. As a player, you look forward to this day for months. There are so many great things about Cougar Night, so you really try to take it all in. Everything about it is so special, but in the end, you just have to play another football game.
Practice This Week: We had another solid week of practice. We're always getting better, and we're always building on the previous week(s), and work hard to make sure we improve on things that need improving. Ever since the summer, we've all been working hard, from the seniors down to the freshmen.
Expectations: Week in and week out, our team is expected to falter. Do we listen to the projections or to what people say about us? No. There are a lot of people who don't think we can win, but every single player on this team knows we can. That's why we worked so hard. If anything, the negative things that people think or say about our team motivate us. I definitely think people are going to see that motivation come out on Cougar Night.
Attitude: We are ready to go. Coach Izsa has been our biggest believer and motivator throughout the season, and he knows we can do great things. Par Hills has a good team, but we know we can play with them. If we play assignment football, minimize our mistakes and keep our energy level high, people will see what the Chatham Cougars can do.
