The 2014 Lower Providence Firemen’s Fair has just one day remaining. The festival, which opened on Thursday, May 29, will hold its closing day activities from 1 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, June 7 to conclude the celebratory fundraising event.

Proceeds from the annual fair support the Lower Providence Fire Department, which is a completely volunteer-based organization. Outside of donations, the department relies heavily on this annual tradition to raise funds for its operation year-to-year.

Visitors to the fair on Saturday can get a pay-one-price deal from 1 to 5 p.m. For just $25, participants can ride all afternoon for one cost. Coupons are also available for $5 off at the Wawa along Ridge Pike, Main Street Pizza, and in the donut stand or parking lot areas of the fair.

Each rider needs to have his or her own wristband to enjoy the rides. Coupons must also be obtained for each person purchasing the discounted-rate pay-one-price deal.

In addition to hosting the fair on its grounds, behind the fire department located at Ridge Pike and Mount Kirk, the firemen are also selling various foods in “The Cabana” located at the entrance to the fair. From hot dogs and burgers, to kielbasa and roast beef sandwiches, there is a variety of food choices being sold by the local department.

Additionally, the firemen are selling peel lottery tickets, with prizes up to $100 for just 50 cents a piece. The well-known Donut Stand is up and running, as well, next to the firemen’s stand which operates to steam clams and shrimp. This year, in addition to the steamed treats most have come to love, there is also a Lobster Bake special. For just $27, guests can dine on a lobster tail, dozen clams, red potato and corn. A special is also on, discounting four dozen steamed clams to just $24.

The Audubon-Oaks Lions Club has its corn on the cob stand set, selling delicious cobs for just $2 each. These are not to be missed!

From carnival games and rides, to t-shirt booths and henna art, there is something to entertain all ages at this year’s fair. Guests have only one day remaining to get in on the fun.
