Old Guard Talk on New Jersey’s Mutinous Regiment

John Zinn, the Chairman of the New Jersey Historical Society, will tell the story of New Jersey’s mutinous 33rd Regiment in the Civil War at November 20th meeting of the Summit Old Guard.  Mr. Zinn will talk about the controversial beginning in the summer of 1863 and how the regiment went on to serve proudly and effectively in the Atlanta and the March to Sea.  The presentation begins at 10 A.M. at the New Providence Municipal Center.  John Zinn is the author of the book on this Civil War segment of history.

John is a graduate of Rutgers University.

All area 50-plus active men are invited to attend meetings of the Summit Area Old Guard on Tuesday mornings at the New Providence Municipal Center at 360 Elkwood Avenue.  A coffee hour starts at 9:15 that is followed by a 10 AM short business meeting. Old Guard members participate in sports, bridge, hikes, trips, plays, concerts and cultural events.
