Tuesday, September 25, 2012 • 2:31pm
PATERSON, NJ - The women of the Paterson community have come together to fill the need of mentoring our young ladies. The Valerie M. Dade Girls Leadership Summit, sponsored by Commissioner Kenneth L. Simmons, is designed to encourage, demonstrate and expose our Paterson young ladies to new and exciting things as well as offer them new opportunities for the future.
The second annual leadership summit will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at the International High School, 200 Grand Street, Paterson, NJ. The summit has been a valuable entity and in some cases a life-changing experience for the girls in our community. This event is an opportunity for the community to take ownership of the problems facing young ladies today.
The keynote speaker will be Yvonne Harvey-Williams, renowned motivational speaker and author. Workshops addressing education, social belonging, decision making and much more will be available. Parents and guardians will also be able to attend a workshop designed just for them. This year a special workshop entitled “Fathers Raising Daughters,” is planned. A free T-shirt will be given to the first 200 girls who attend the summit. A continental breakfast and lunch will be given to all participants.
