Oct. 13: Teachers Learning Day at Great Falls

PATERSON, NJ - The Paterson Education Fund will be hosting a variety of workshops on Oct. 13 for teachers interested in using the Great Falls National Historical Park as a classroom.
The program, which is free, will be held at School 2 at 22 Passaic Street, with registrartion starting at 8:30 am.
Here's the program:
9 am Plenary: Using Great Falls National Historical Park as a Classroom by Ilyse Goldman, Park Ranger
10:30 am to 12 noon, Concurrent Workshops
1. Understanding the Passaic River through History and Science by Nicole Esposito, Environmental Educator, Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission [repeated in the afternoon session]
2. Alexander Hamilton, America’s Son, Paterson’s Father by Lyle Silverman, Great Falls Youth Build
3. Exploring Park Restoration with iMovie, by Sandralis Gonzalez and Sarah Sterling-Laldee of the Great Falls Teachers Collaborative
4. Using the Paterson Museum as a Teaching Resource by Giacomo DeStefano, Director of the Paterson Museum
Noon to 12:45 Lunch at School 2
1:00 pm to 2:30 Concurrent Workshops
5. Testing the Passaic Water Quality by Lynn Tarant , the Great Falls Teachers Collaborative
6. Engineering Water Power in Paterson, by Carlos Miranda , the Great Falls Teachers Collaborative
7. Using Voice Thread to Explore Paterson’s History by Maureen Bruins and Darcel Deodato of the Great Falls Teachers Collaborative
8. Immigrants, Children and Labor: The 1939 Paterson Silk Strike, by Evelyn M. Hershey, Educator Director, American Labor Museum/Botto House National Landmark
9. Understanding the Passaic River through History and Science by Nicole Esposito, Environmental Educator, Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission [repeat of the morning session].
