November Declared Pancreatic Cancer Month

MADISON, NJ - Mayor Robert Conley presented a proclamation at Monday night’s council meeting to Dennis Salko declaring November as Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month. Dennis Salko is an affiliate of the Northern New Jersey Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
Mayor Conley indicated that 38,000 people in the United States will die from pancreatic cancer this year. There were 11,000 deaths in New Jersey alone. Pancreatic Cancer is the fourth leading cause of death, but by the year 2020, it is projected to become the second leading cause of death.
“Thank you for your important contribution to this national fight against Pancreatic Cancer,” Salko said. Salko lost his wife to the disease six years ago and lost his grandfather nearly 50 years ago. He is committed in raising awareness.
On Nov. 10, a Walk/ Run will be held at the Mack-Cali Business Center in Parsippany at 4 Campus Drive.
