NJ TRANSIT Trains Delayed Up to 1 Hour Due to Signal Problems

WESTFIELD, NJ - UPDATE: Rail service is now operating on or close to schedule systemwide with residual delays, according to NJ TRANSIT. Cross-honoring is no longer in effect.
ORIGINAL STORY: NJ TRANSIT announced that it is resuming rail service on all lines, subject to up to one-hour delays, following earlier signal problems that resulted in the temporary suspension of train service on all lines except the Northeast Corridor, according to the company.
At approximately 9 a.m. on Oct. 8, the NJ TRANSIT Rail Operations Center experienced a problem with both computer servers that control the railroad’s Train Management and Control System (TMAC), resulting in a loss of signals on all NJ TRANSIT-controlled rail lines. NJ TRANSIT personnel worked to correct the problem as quickly as possible, said the company.
Signal problems impact the ability of NJ TRANSIT to safely provide full passenger rail service. As a precaution, NJ TRANSIT suspended passenger rail service until signals could be restored. All trains remained fully powered during the disruption, with train crews providing announcements to customers.
As of 11 a.m., service is being restored on the Raritan Valley line, as well as Main/Bergen, Port Jervis, Pascack Valley, Morris & Essex (Including Gladstone), Montclair-Boonton, North Jersey Coast Line and Atlantic City.
NJ TRANSIT established cross-honoring with NJ TRANSIT bus and light rail, private carrier bus lines and with PATH. NJ TRANSIT said it also deployed additional customer service representatives to key transit hubs to assist customers during this time.
