New Providence Resident Reports Indentity Theft, Police Urge Others to Report Similar Problems

01-30-2013- Detective Stephen Drown arrested Yue Yang, age 54, of Flushing, NY on an outstanding warrant out of Fort Lee. He was released after posting the bail and an investigation is on-going.

01-31-2013- Patrolman Andrew Diamond arrested Jason D. Hunter, age 26, of New Providence on outstanding warrants out of the borough and Newark. He was released after posting the bail.

01-31-2013- Detective Donald Sretenovic arrested Rebecca Borman, age 20, of New Providence with Insurance Fraud, Theft by Deception, Unsworn Falsification to Authorities, and Hindering Apprehension or Prosecution after an investigation was made into the reported theft of Ms. Borman’s vehicle. Ms. Borman reported her vehicle was stolen from her driveway between 6:00 pm on November 22, 2012 and 9:00 am on November 23, 2012. The investigation led to the recovery of Ms. Borman’s vehicle in Plainfield. It was left there by Ms. Borman after she was
involved in a motor vehicle crash in Madison. Ms. Borman was charged and released pending a court date in Union County.

02-01-2013- A resident of Second Street reported that her ring was stolen from her residence. The theft is being investigated by the New Providence Detective Bureau.

02-05-2013- A resident of South Street reported that he received a phone call from his bank indicating that someone attempted to wire transfer $9,680.00 from a credit card to his checking account. The victim indicated that he also received several credit cards and bills in the mail that were fraudulent. The victim did not know where his information was stolen from. The identity theft is currently under investigation by the detective bureau.

02-07-2013- A manager of a business on Central Avenue reported the theft of four Android tablets between 5:00 pm on November 5th and 3:00 pm on November 6th. The theft is being investigated by the detective bureau.

02-11-2013- A resident of Radcliff Drive reported that someone filed a tax return using his social security number and taxpayer ID. The victim had an affidavit of fraud form which he will be sending to the IRS. If any other residents have a similar incident occur, they are advised to file a police report and follow the steps on the IRS website, www.IRS.gov, for identity theft.

02-13-2013- A resident of Gold Court reported $4,800 worth of jewelry stolen from her residence. The theft is currently under investigation by the detective bureau.

02-14-2013- A resident of Runnymede Parkway reported that her vehicle was burglarized between 6:00 pm on February 13th and 8:50 am on February 14th. No items were reported missing. The crime is under investigation by the detective bureau.

02-14-2013- A resident of Laurel Drive reported his IPad was stolen from the high school between 4:00 pm on February 13th and 4:45 pm on February 14th. The theft is being investigated by the detective bureau.

02-15-2013- Patrolman Andrew Diamond charged Anthony Juleus, age 42, of Lakewood with operating a vehicle while his license was suspended and also for operating a vehicle with a suspended registration after a random license plate inquiry revealed the suspensions. He was charged and given a mandatory municipal court date.
