10-02-2012 – Patrolman Andrew Diamond charged Joshua Rogoff, 35, of Staten Island, NY with possession of marijuana, possession of narcotic paraphernalia, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle and careless driving. Mr. Rogoff was arrested during a motor vehicle stop after Patrolman Diamond observed Mr. Rogoff driving in a careless manner on South Street and Ethan Drive. He was released with a pending court date.
10-09-2012 – Detective Bubb charged Kevin Wadsworth, 25, of New Providence with possession of hypodermic needles, narcotic paraphernalia and possession of marijuana. The charges stem from an investigation into a narcotic overdose at his residence that caused him to become unconscious and was transported to Overlook Hospital.
10-09-2012 – Patrols responded to a residence on Martins Lane on a report of a burglary to a motor vehicle. The owner of the vehicle reported that they heard their car door close at approximately 9:51 PM. The resident looked out the window and observed the lights on inside the vehicle. Upon checking the vehicle, the resident reported that her wallet and a GPS unit were stolen. When the resident called to cancel the credit card that were in her stolen wallet, her credit card company advised her that one of her cards was just used at a gas station in Newark. On 10-10-2012, a resident of Brookside Drive reported that someone had entered his vehicle during the night or early morning hours. The resident advised officers that his wallet was missing. While cancelling his credit cards, he was advised that one of his credit cards was used at a gas station in Irvington and a Walgreens in Newark. A Badgley Drive resident reported on 10-11-12, that his vehicle was entered on 10-9-12 and cash and new clothing was stolen from the rear seat. Detectives have recovered evidence and are currently investigating these recent motor vehicle burglaries. Residents are reminded to lock their vehicles, remove valuables from their vehicles and to report any suspicious activity to the New Providence Police at 908-665-1111.
10-10-2012 – Corporal Steven Opalewski arrested Anthony Ciuba, 48, of Cranford on outstanding warrants out of Chester Borough and Fanwood Borough Municipal Courts. The warrant was located during a motor vehicle stop for equipment violations on Passaic Street. He was also charged with operating the vehicle with a suspended license.
10-11-2012 – Patrolman Andrew Diamond charged Nicholas Mitchell, 47, of Matawan with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose. The charges stem from a motor vehicle stop on Elkwood Avenue for Mr. Mitchell operating a vehicle with a suspended registration, a suspended license and operating without insurance. Mr. Mitchell also had an outstanding warrant out of Cherry Hill Municipal Court. During the stop, Patrolman Diamond observed an expandable police baton in the driver’s side door pocket and a rolled cigarette in the passenger side door containing marijuana. Mr. Mitchell posted bail and was released with a pending court date.
10-12-2012 – Patrols responded to addresses on Hansell Road, Sagamore Drive and Southgate Road on a report of solicitors going door to door attempting to sell services for roofing, siding and windows. A resident on Hansell Road reported that when he asked the solicitors for their permit from the Borough, they ran from his residence to their vehicle and left the street at a high rate of speed. The vehicle is described as a dark colored SUV with New Jersey registration. The resident on Sagamore Drive reported that the solicitors would not provide her with a business card and were asking her questions about who was normally at home during the day at her residence. Residents are reminded that solicitors need a permit to go door to door in the Borough and the permits should be displayed.
