10-10-2013 – A Sagamore Drive resident reported that someone had charged $1,694.85 on her Macy’s credit card.  All the charges were from online purchases.  A Brooklyn shipping address was used for the purchases.  She also indicated that someone had created a fraudulent checking account was created in her name. A check from this account was made out to Macy’s to pay for $1,549.86 of the fraudulent charges. The Detective Bureau is investigating.

10-10-2013 – At 7:58 p.m., patrol officers were dispatched to a Woodland Road address of a reported burglary to a motor vehicle.  The resident reported that the console was broken and the glove compartment was entered.  A diamond and speakers were reported stolen from the vehicle valued at $750.  According to the victim the burglary occurred from 10 p.m. on 10-9-13 to 7:58 p.m. on 10-10-13.  The detective bureau is investigating this report.  If anyone may have witnessed this incident or has information pertaining to it, contact the New Providence Police at 908-665-1111.

10-10-2013 – A Central Avenue resident reported that someone had opened a DirecTV account in her name.  The DirecTV account that was in the victim’s name was located in Bradeton, Fla. The Detective Bureau is investigating.

10-11-2013 – A Hickson Drive resident reported that someone attempted to open a Home Depot and Best Buy credit cards with his information.  Someone also attempted to open a Sears credit card but was unsuccessful.  The person who attempted to open the cards was utilizing a Pennsylvania address.  The Detective Bureau is investigating.

10-12-2013 – Patrolman Andrew Diamond arrested Jose Rodriguez, 46, of Somerset on an outstanding warrant out of Metuchen Municipal Court.  The warrant was located during a motor vehicle stop on South Street for equipment violations.  He was released after posting bail.

 

10-13-2013 – Patrolman Andrew Diamond arrested Richard Dorcent, 26, of Rahway and Alex Sarmiento, 19, of Paterson on outstanding warrants. The warrant for Dorcent was a non-payment of child support warrant out of the Union County Sheriff’s Office. Sarmiento’s warrant was out of the Helmetta Municipal Court. The warrants were located during a motor vehicle stop for equipment violations on Mountain Avenue. Dorcent was also issued a summons for driving while suspended.

 

 

10-13-2013 – Sergeant Frank Gaffney arrested Corrine Lawson, 26, of Plainfield on outstanding warrants out of Fanwood, Scotch Plains and East Brunswick.  She was released on her own recognizance by the other agencies.

 

10-15-2013 – A resident of 851 Springfield Avenue reported that someone had attempted to gain entry into her apartment by entering her door.  The resident reported that she observed the weather stripping around the door had been damaged.  Nothing was reported stolen and entry was not made to the apartment.

 

10-17-2013 – A resident reported that while in line while at a Springfield Avenue business, an unknown individual came up to him asking him for change of a ten dollar bill.  After the resident gave the individual change, he later attempted to utilize the bill given to him and discovered that the bill was counterfeit.  This case is currently under investigation by the detective bureau.

 

10-18-2013 – At 5:42 p.m., patrols and detectives responded to a residence on Sulfrian Road on a report of a burglary.  The resident reported that she came home and observed that her rear door had been smashed in.  She indicated that she did not know what was missing from the residence at the time of the report.  The resident reported that the burglary may have happened between 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.  If anyone may have witnessed this incident, contact the New Providence Police Department at 908-665-1111. 

 

10-18-2013 – At 10:40 p.m., a Manville resident indicated that she was driving west on Mountain Avenue when an unknown vehicle came from the eastbound side with its high beams on and sideswiped her vehicle as it passed.  Patrol officers observed white paint on the victim’s car from the other vehicle.  If anyone may have witnessed this crash, contact Detective Sean Bubb at 908-665-1111.

 

10-19-2013 – At 12:07 a.m., a Union resident reported that as he was driving west on Central Avenue attempting to make a left turn onto Pearl Street, an older model Toyota Corolla passed him on the left side striking his vehicle.  The suspect vehicle continued to travel west on Central Avenue.  If anyone may have witnessed this crash, contact Detective Sean Bubb at 908-665-1111.

 

10-20-2013 – At 9:07 p.m., a Summit resident reported that as he was walking his dog on Springfield Avenue by Gales Drive when he observed two males and a female pulling a tree down along the curb line to Centennial Park.  Before observing them damaging the tree, the witness observed the individuals attempting to “punch out” and “kick” windows out at businesses located in the Village lot.  Patrol officers did locate the tree that was damaged but did not locate any noticeable damage in the Village Lot.  Sergeant Frank Gaffney located one of the possible suspects on Jane Road.  He identified the individual that matched the description given by the witness.  The detective bureau is investigating this report and charges are pending.
