7-15-2013- An Ethan Drive resident reported that someone fraudulently utilized her email address to contact her financial advisor about her account balances.  The victim indicated that three separate emails were sent from her account. 

 

7-16-2013 – At 11:45 p.m., during a check of borough parks, Patrolman Andrew Diamond heard loud voices coming from Jaycee Park.  Upon investigating the loud voices further, he observed a 16-year-old male and two 17-year-old juveniles consuming alcohol. They were released to their parents.

 

7-18-2013 – Patrols responded to an attempted burglary at 127 Gales Drive.  The victim reported that she had just returned from vacation and stated that someone had attempted to pry her door open while she was away.  The detective bureau responded to process the scene and is currently investigating this report. 

 

7-19-2013 – A Madison Avenue resident reported that he received a scam phone call from someone posing as his grandson. The caller posing as his grandson indicated that his car was damaged while he was at a bachelor party and he needed $1,900.  Someone then came on the telephone line and indicated they were a lawyer. The scammers advised the victim to respond to CVS and send a MoneyGram to them to cover the damages to the vehicle. The money gram was sent to a location in Delaware. The scammers then attempted to contact the victim back to attempt to get $2,300 to pay for property damages.  Before sending money a second time he was able to verify that his grandson was at work and was not involved. 

 

7-20-2013 – At 1:01 a.m., Patrolman Michael Hand located an intoxicated 16-year-old male lying on a table in Veteran’s Park. The juvenile was released to his parents.

 

7-21-2013 – Patrolman Joseph DiParisi arrested Corrine Lawson, 25, of Plainfield on an outstanding warrant out of Scotch Plains Municipal Court.  The warrant was located during a traffic stop on Mountain Avneue.  She was also issued a summons for an equipment violation.

 

7-22-2013 – Patrolman David Rodriguez arrested Edmond Hagen, 49, of Berkeley Heights on an outstanding child non-support warrant out of the Union County Sheriff’s Office.  Mr. Hagen was turned over to the Sheriff’s Department.

 

7-24-2013 – Patrolman Andrew Diamond arrested Jamaal Wells, 21, of Newark on an outstanding warrant out of East Orange.  The warrant was located during a motor vehicle stop in the parking lot of a Central Avenue business.

 

7-24-2013 – Detective Sean Bubb charged James Jacobs, 38, of Brooklyn, N.Y. with theft. The charges stem from an investigation from June 13 on a report from CVS Pharmacy that Mr. Jacobs was involved with stealing $4730.28 in merchandise, primarily cold medication, from the store with two other individuals.  Further charges are pending the identification of the two other individuals involved.   

 

7-25-2013 – Patrols responded to Our Lady of Peace Church on a report of criminal mischief.  It was reported that a stained-glass door was cracked and is believed that an item was thrown at it. 

 

7-28-2013 – Patrolman Michael Scuorzo arrested Alex Wolfson, 20, of Roseland on an outstanding warrant out of Newark.  The warrant was located during a motor vehicle stop on South Street, where she was a passenger. The driver of the vehicle, Jonathan Perez, 25, of Newark was issued a summons for driving while suspended.
