12-28-2013:  Patrolman David Rodriguez charged Tina M. Destefano, age 25, of Plainfield with operating a vehicle with a suspended registration after the vehicle was stopped for having a brake light out.  She was given a mandatory court date in the New Providence Municipal Court.

 

12-30-2013:  A resident of Clinton Avenue reported his house was burglarized between 4:30 and 7 pm on 12-30-2013.   The side door window was broken and taken from the residence was various pieces of jewelry and a wallet.  The burglary is currently under investigation by the New Providence Detective Bureau.  Anyone who may have witnessed anything of suspicion during this time frame in the area of Clinton Avenue is asked to contact the police department.

 

12-31-2013:  Corporal Steven Opalewski charged Arnold Jose Ortega, age 40, of Plainfield with operating a vehicle while his driver’s license was suspended after his vehicle was stopped for having passenger plates on a commercial vehicle.  Mr. Ortega was issued a summons for the license violation and the company, Fullerton Grounds Maintenance, was issued a summons for the registration violation.  Both have a mandatory municipal court date.

 

01-02-2014:  Patrolman Andrew Diamond charged Yulanda Williams, age 28, of Iselin with operating a vehicle with a suspended registration after a random license plate inquiry revealed the violation.  She was given a mandatory municipal court date.

 

01-05-2014:  Patrolman Michael Hand arrested Sandra Fiore, age 72, of Chatham for shoplifting beauty supplies and jewelry from a Borough business.  An employee of the business contacted the police department in regards to the theft and patrols arrived to investigate the report.  Mrs. Fiore  was arrested after the investigation and later released pending a municipal court date.

 

01-06-2014:  Patrolman Michael Hand arrested Jimmy Lazaro, age 54, of the Borough for driving while intoxicated after a concerned citizen advised the police department that Mr. Lazaro was passed out at the wheel in a Borough business parking lot.  Patrols responded to the scene where Mr. Lazaro was arrested for DWI.  He was released to a sober adult pending a municipal court date.
