On March 26, 2014 at 6:50 p.m., scoop up some fun, music and ice cream at the New Providence Music Boosters Ice Cream Social. This annual event is held as part of the March celebration of “Music in Our Schools Month."

This year’s Here’s the Scoop Ice Cream Social highlights to parents, friends and the community at large the wonderful Music Department in the NPSD schools.  There are 1800 children who participate in the NPSD music programs; there are 30 organizations and only 11 teachers providing this excellent music instruction.

To celebrate these talented children and teachers is a special one-night-only concert held on March 26 at 6:50 p.m. in the New Providence High School Auditorium. The stars of the show are New Providence students in Grades 5-8 from the New Providence Middle School, Allen W. Roberts Elementary and Salt Brook Elementary schools. These students will perform a “Pops” concert featuring the respective choruses, bands and orchestras.

In addition, the New Providence Music Boosters Ice Cream Social will scoop up some delicious ice cream provided by Zita’s in the New Providence High School Cafeteria.  Proceeds raised will be donated directly to benefit the school music programs.

If you would like to join the festivities, $4 tickets for the Ice Cream Social can be purchased online at https://www.register.communitypass.com/newprovidence (select NP Music Boosters after you log in), or at the door.

For those unacquainted with the New Providence Music Boosters, it is and organization comprised of parents and friends whose purpose is to support the New Providence Music Department. Their goal is to enhance the music education experience of every child in the school system in grades Pre-K–12.  Money raised from the activities of the NP Music Boosters through membership, donations, Market Day and annual fundraisers such as the Ice Cream Social are donated to the students and teachers of the NP School District to supplement the Music Department’s budget in the form of scholarships, equipment and special performances.
