NEW PROVIDENCE, N.J. – A student at New Providence High School spent her summer like no other local student.

Kathryn Vigilante, who will be a senior at NPHS in September, recently completed “Climate Change and The Human Experience,” an intense summer enrichment program under the direction of the New Jersey Scholars Program.

The free, five-week program, held at The Lawrenceville School, is a highly competitive educational experience for 39 rising seniors from across the state, that examines climate change through the use of history and politics, literature, science and sociology and anthropology.

Students learned from substantial reading assignments, lectures and seminars, while also performing in an arts festival featuring music, drama, dance, poetry and art. Additionally, the group traveled to New York City where they visited the Bronx River Alliance and the American Museum of Natural History.

The academic experience concluded with a inter-disciplinary research project and presentation.

TAP into New Providence congratulates Kathryn for this tremendous accomplishment.
