NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - More than 200 people packed the New Providence Senior Center on Saturday night for the New Providence Education Foundation's (NPEF) eighth annual Casino Royale. The theme for this year was Gatsby-inspired and attendees dressed up in roaring 20s clothing. At the event, guests tried their luck at blackjack, roulette, poker and craps.

One part of the grand prize for the evening was a drawing for the “Field of Dreams,” an outing to Yankee Stadium for eight with seating at the Jim Beam Suite. The second prize was a chance to win the “Tiffany & Co. Diamond by the Yard.” This was a 16-inch long, drop pendant necklace, in sterling silver with diamonds for that lucky lady.

The live auction featured two VIP tickets to both the DirecTV Super Bowl Celebrity Beach Bowl Party/Super Bowl Super Saturday Night Party, a Be Our Guest dinner party for eight prepared and served by the board of the New Providence Education Foundation, and the Civil War of Golf, an all-inclusive outing for seven at Canoe Brook Country Club.

"Stars on Staff" was a new item added to the silent auction this year. “These unique opportunities showcased the diverse talents and expertise of the New Providence faculty”, said NPEF President Hugo Barth. Some of the items offered for bidding were a basketball clinic for 10 participants, tennis lessons, a yoga class, a personal birthday party bash and a custom culinary adventure.

“We live in such a great town and the people are very generous donating for this great cause. I want to thank all the volunteers that have made this a great event.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart," said Barth, who also acknowledged the efforts of NPEF vice-president Melissa Vetter, Nicole Bisaccia, Linda DeGeorge, Mary Engelbrechtsen and Jama Podell-Vitale for putting the event together and making it a night to remember.

Casino Royale Night raises money for grants awarded to each of the New Providence public schools in the 2013-14 school year.

Last year due to the generosity of many individuals, businesses, and organizations in the community, the New Providence Education Foundation was able to award more than $67,800 in grants. Since its inception in 2004, the organization has contributed over $500,000 in grants for the New Providence Public Schools.
