New Providence Affordable Housing Lottery to Take Place

The Borough of New Providence is now accepting Preliminary Applications for its Affordable Housing program. The Affordable Housing Board will conduct a lottery of income-eligible preliminary applicants to randomly select households and create a waiting list for any affordable housing units that may become available in the future. There are 37 income-restricted units in the Borough but no vacancies at the present time.
Anyone currently on the waiting list for Affordable Housing in New Providence who wishes to continue to be considered for an affordable unit must reapply. Preliminary Application forms are available at the borough website www.newprov.org and at the New Providence Municipal Center, Clerk’s Office, 360 Elkwood Avenue, New Providence, NJ 07974. To have an application included in the next lottery, it must be received in the Clerk’s Office no later than 4:30 PM Friday, October 26, 2012.
The lottery will take place at 9:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 3rd in the Council Conference Room, 3rd Floor, Municipal Center, 360 Elkwood Avenue, New Providence, NJ. The lottery drawing is open to the public but it is not necessary to attend to be included. For further information, contact the Affordable Housing Office at 908-665-1400 ext. 0.
