New Jersey 350 Pop-Up Store Comes to Boonton’s Main Street

Tuesday, June 3, 2014 • 11:05pm

BOONTON, NJ – In honor and celebration of New Jersey’s 350th Anniversary, Boonton will be the only stop in Morris County on the New Jersey 350 (NJ350) Pop-Up Store tour. This unique statewide program of temporary stores has never before been attempted and will travel over 1,000 miles during NJ’s 350th anniversary year.

The NJ350 Pop-Up Store will “pop-up” at 811 Main Street and will be one of only sixteen temporary store sites that have been chosen in 14 communities during 2014. During that period, more than 350 independent businesses will be represented within the temporary locations.

Stores sell items representing Jerseyana (made in New Jersey items, or reflecting New Jersey), NJ350 branded merchandise, and unique offerings from local businesses in each community.

In Boonton, the NJ350 Pop-Up Store will run from Thursday, June 5 through Sunday, June 8.  Hours of operation will be: Thursday, Saturday and Sunday 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Friday 11 a.m. - 8 p.m.

“Boonton Main Street is happy to host this innovative and celebratory concept here in our region,” Board President of Boonton Main Street Marta Pascarella said. “Our Main Street in Boonton is an incredible mix of businesses in an eclectic and historic setting. It’s the perfect place to celebrate New Jersey turning 350, while supporting our great local merchants, artists and restaurants.”

The store in Boonton will include a variety of free-to-the-public special events as part of its programming:

June 6, 4 p.m.: The store will host a Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting with local, county, and state officials;

June 6, 7 p.m.: The store will hold a book signing and Meet the Author event with Rutgers University Press author Mark Di Ionno, a 2013 Pulitzer finalist and columnist at the Star Ledger. Mark will be signing his books including his most recent, Guide to New Jersey’s Revolutionary War Trail. Come hear from this renowned author himself!

June 6, 5 p.m. - 8 p.m.: The store will have live local music and refreshments as part of the Dog Daze of Summer kickoff weekend.  Come by to check out one of the 30+ artistic dogs that are part of this exclusively-Boonton celebration.

June 8, 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.: Local Boonton author Rob Palmer will be on hand signing copies of his recent releases – a historical novel, Partition and Maxing Out, a children’s bedtime book.  As a special guest, Max the bear will be on hand to co-sign and meet with his fans.

Everyone is encouraged to check in on social media channels at the event with #BoontonNJ350.
