SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ - Middlesex County is expecting to reopen New Brunswick Avenue from Cherry Street to Walnut Street this Friday. To road has been closed for nearly two months while crews have installed a new box culvert. Road repairs on New Brunswick Avenue from Cherry Street all the way to West 7th Street will continue, but the road will be open to traffic.
“I’m glad the County was able to replace the culvert," said Mayor Matt Anesh. "I know a lot of people have been inconvenienced by the Cherry Street to Walnut Street detour, but the work needed to be done and the summer months are the best times to do it.”
The construction is part of a Middlesex County road project. The project consists of reconstruction of the road, road widening, sidewalks, handicapped ramps, curbing and a bicycle lane.
