UNION COUNTY, NJ - The Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders is pleased to announce that new dates have been added to the “Jersey Fresh” Farmers’ Market food voucher program. There are now seven new dates for distribution at various county locations during the month of August.

“We are very happy to be able to extend the Jersey Fresh program once again,” said Freeholder Christopher Hudak. “The additional August dates and locations will help provide more eligible seniors with access to fresh, nutritious produce from local farmers.”

The Farmers’ Market Program provides $20 worth of vouchers, in four $5.00 increments, to each eligible senior. The vouchers are to be used for purchasing “Jersey Fresh” fruits, vegetables and herbs at any qualifying farmers market.

Pre-registration is required to participate. Registration applications can be picked up at all Senior Nutrition sites and Senior Centers throughout Union County.

To be eligible, an individual must be age 60 or over with an annual income not exceeding $21,590. The limit is $29,101 for a married couple.

Proof of age, residency and income are required to participate. A Medicaid card, SSI card, SNAP verification, or annual pension and Social Security income statement qualify as proof.

For more information, call the Union County Department of Human Services, Division on Aging and Disability Resource Connection (ADRC) toll free, 888-280-8226.
