Math geeks everywhere already know what to day is. And no, it is not just the kick off to St. Patrick’s Day weekend. It is National “Pie Day” or 3.14, P. The symbol is used in math as the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. It is also a Greek letter “P,” the 14th day of March, and the date of Albert Einstein’s birthday.

Most American’s celebrate March 14 by simply eating the tasty dessert, pie. Locally you can find the sweet treat in a number of great spots.

At Collegeville Italian Bakery, they call it “dolce” but you can get the dessert ordered in apple, cherry, peach, blueberry, pumpkin, pecan, coconut custard and seasonally in ricotta. To order, visit the online form or call 610-489-3354.

Eagleville-based pastry artist and chef Colleen Kriebel whips up sweet treats at her Colonial Shopping Center location. While Kriebel’s Custom Cake’s specializes in custom cakes, she also carries cheesecake, éclairs, strawberry shortcake and a variety of mousse “pies” and cakes, including peanut butter, chocolate bomb, lemon mousse and raspberry chocolate.

To order from Kriebel’s stop by the store at 3140 W. Ridge Pike, Eagleville (next to Salter’s Ski Shop) Tuesday to Saturday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or call 484-679-1406 to place an order.

If your Friday night sweet tooth is thinking more savory, celebrate the day with a pizza or tomato pie. Main Street Pizzeria and Grille has a thick or thin crust tomato pie for just $11.95. Stop by 3140 W. Ridge Pike in Eagleville to order or eat-in or call 610-539-3305 to place your order.

No matter how you slice it, it is a fun day to enjoy. Happy Pi (or Pie) Day, Lower Providence!
