My Future Plans

Dear Constituents:

It’s too premature for me to consider or rule out the possibility of running for a 2nd term on the board or for considering to run for a seat on the City's Municipal Council.

Rumors have been circulated. Therefore, I need to clarify my position on this delicate matter. Currently, my only focus is to continue to serve my community as a school board member.

First, I count each day as both a privilege and an honor to serve my community in this capacity. I look forward to advocating for the students and their parents.

Second, I try to remain in a place wherein I can always be reached. I try to visit schools as much as time permits. And I often write down any concerns that are brought to my attention.

While I realize that managing schools isn't my responsibility, I still attempt to at least point the parents in the right direction by connecting them with those who can assist them further.

Bottom line: I love what I do. And with each waking moment I try to be the best board member I can. I can't negate the fact that over the past few months, residents have approached me, requesting that I consider running for a city council seat.

I haven't given it much thought at all. However, at some point, I may consider it. Just not right now. I am too busy working in the field that I love most, education. I do realize that this is a volunteer position, but just knowing that I'm investing into the lives of the future doctor, lawyer, or judge is payment enough for me.

The calls I receive from parents thanking me for advocating for them, is payment enough. Seeing the smiling faces of the children when I visit a school is payment enough for me. In fact, sometimes I feel as though I'm not worthy to be blessed to serve in this seat.

In conclusion, I don't see myself running for anything else. But I'm not completely ruling out the notion. Let's see what God has to say about this matter.

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord. As such, I intend to continue letting God be the guiding force that takes me from one place to another.

I truly appreciate the support I have from all of you.

All the best,

Corey L. Teague
