CHATHAM, NJ - The Chatham girls basketball team didn't seem to have an answer for what Roxbury sophomore Lauren Kornmann was doing on the offensive end of the court in the first half on Friday.

The answer came from Colleen Mulvaney in the second half as the senior center provided the offense and defense that helped Chatham rally for a 46-35 victory.

The 6-1 Kornmann scored 11 of her game-high 14 points in the first half, leading Roxbury to a 24-19 lead. But Mulvaney, Natalie Washuta and Cassandra Falone brought Chatham back with a big third quarter.

Mulvaney contributed eight of her career-high 12 points in the second half while holding the taller Kornmann to just three points after the break.

"We were helping too much on defense and once we made that adjustment, things got better," Chatham coach Joe Gaba said. "We just tried to stay on (Kornmann) because we knew she was a good 3-point shooter. Offensively, we were a mess in the first half. There was no sense of urgency."

Chatham (8-4) got things righted in the third quarter with a 15-0 run. Mulvaney ignited the streak by converting a pass from Washuta for a basket inside. Washuta then drained consecutive 3-point shots before Cassandra Falone swished a 3-pointer from the wing.

Emily Walczyk kept it going with a drive through the lane and Falone capped it with two foul shots that handed Chatham a 34-26 lead.

"I told Nattie that you need to put this team on your back and get this team going today," Gaba said.

Washuta ended with 11 points, six rebounds, three assists and four steals while Falone led the team with 13 points.

Mulvaney, in addition to her defense, helped seal the game with six points in the fourth quarter, including a jump shot that staked the Lady Cougars to a 38-34 edge. Mulvaney's basket off a pass from Shea Matta made it 43-35 with 2:21 showing.
