Feb. 18, 2013 4:42 p.m.

On the 800 block of Forest Avenue, there was a report of a suspicious vehicle and possible narcotics activity. Upon their arrival in the area, the police located the suspect’s vehicle commit a motor vehicle violation. They conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle in the area of Forest Avenue and Seneca Place. A further investigation resulted in the arrest of Aswad Turner, 19, of Plainfield and two juveniles (one from Westfield and one from Plainfield) for possession of suspected marijuana under 50 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia. All three subjects were transported to the Westfield Police Department and processed. The two juveniles were released to their parents and Turner was issued summonses and released.

Feb. 20, 2013 12:38 p.m.

A resident of Pine Grove Avenue reports being the victim of an identity theft. An unknown suspect(s) accessed the victim’s credit card and used $1000.

Feb. 21, 2013 1:51 a.m.

Toni Hill, 36, of Mary Avenue in Vauxhall, was arrested for driving while intoxicated pursuant to a motor vehicle accident investigation at Mountain Avenue and East Dudley Avenue. Hill was transported to the hospital, processed and released from police custody at this location to a responsible sober adult.

Feb. 21, 2013 7:49 a.m.

A resident from the 600 block of Shackamaxon Drive reports having criminal mischief to her vehicle while parked at the Southside Train Station in Westfield. Unknown suspect(s) keyed the vehicle.

Feb. 21, 2013 9:06 a.m.

A business located on the 200 block of E. Broad Street reports being the victim of a theft. Unknown suspect(s) took approximately $1515 worth of property from the business.

Feb. 21, 2013 10:35 a.m.

A resident from the 800 block of Lamberts Mill Road reports being the victim of a theft. Unknown suspect(s) removed electrical equipment from the residence worth $1200.

Feb. 23, 2013 12:38 a.m.

Earl Alexander, 65, was arrested for DWI following a motor vehicle stop in Scotch Plains township on West South Avenue. Alexander was turned over to a sober adult.

Feb. 23, 2013 3:35 a.m.

A business in the 1100 block of West South Avenue was burglarized after a suspect smashed/shattered the front glass door, entered the establishment, and removed the cash drawer from the cash register - located at the front counter area. Suspect then fled the scene in an unidentified motor vehicle. The cash drawer was empty at the time of the burglary and no items/money appear to be missing at this time. A search of the area by officers assisted by a K-9 unit was unsuccessful in locating suspect(s).

Feb. 23, 2013 3:08 p.m.

There was a report of criminal activity (burglary) and criminal mischief in the 200 block of Sinclair Place. Suspect(s) unknown cut a screen and attempted to pry open a window at the residence.

Feb. 23, 2013 4:00 p.m.

Carls Germain, 24, of Roselle was arrested on strength of warrants at the Lawrence Police Department. Warrants included Westfield (ACS - $2500), North Plainfield (ATS - $315), Fanwood (ATS - $364) and Plainfield (Town Code - $121). Germain was able to post bond for Westfield and cash for the other three.

Feb. 24, 2013 1:34 a.m.

Robert Hernandez, 27, of Berkeley Heights was arrested for DWI following a traffic stop at Mountain Avenue and Birch Place. Hernandez was turned over to a sober adult.
