Ms California is the Newly Crowned Ms Senior America

Ms California, and the 2012 Ms Senior America Elisabeth Howard, entertained her audience, singing an aria Lo Trivota. The audience loved her and the aria. The lovely Ms is a member of the National Association of Singing Teachers and a past president; a member of the Board of Directors of the Opera Guild of Southern California; a past president of the National Association of Recording Arts & Sciences; Actors Equity Association SAG, AFTRA, and the LA Women in Music.

The newly crowned Ms Senior America also is a volunteer for the American cancer Society, the American Heart Association, Crippled Children's Society, Bill of Rights Awards, International Missing Children's Foundation, Wildlife Way Station, Just Say No to Drugs, and Anti Grafitti.

Ms Senior America also is fond of opera, jazz, cabaret, theater, writing music, playing the piano, teaching voice, and animal rights. Adn she is a lover of Shakespeare!

Ms Missouri, Dr. Veronica Marie Hilyard, selected an opera song, O Mio Babbino Caro, which means Oh My Dear Daddy. The rendition was superb and rightly so. A student of vocal music and Italian language, Dr. Hilyard is a graduate oiof West Catholic High School in Philadelphia, Gywnedd Mercy College, Maryville University,  and St. Louis University.

She also is a member of the Education & Social Emotional Development of Gifted Talented Childfen & Children with Disabilities.  In Her volunteer work, Dr. Hilyard is chairperson of the National Leadership Council of Maryville University. And is is on the Fund Raising  Event Planning Committee-Bach Society of St. Louis, Missouri. In church work, Dr. Hilyard is Lector/Reader/Eucharistic Minister for Our Lady of Lourdes Church.

The 2012 Ms. Senior America Pageant, held at Harrah’s C The Ms. Senior America Pageant allows sponsors to celebrate the vitality of today's senior woman and to applaud her accomplishments in the community, state, and nation.

The Ms. Senior America Pageant is judged in two phases: the Preliminary Round and the Finals.  In the Preliminary Round, each contestant receives a score, from one to ten, in each of the four categories discussed above.  Contestant interviews are held in advance, and the judges' scores for the Interview Category are submitted to the Chairperson and Tabulator.  Preliminary Evening Gown, Philosophy of Life and Talent scores are reported by the judges as they view the contestants on stage.  The four scores are then added together, and the ladies who receive the top ten scores will be announced as this years' Finalists.  Finalists enter the stage for the Final Round with their scores from their Interviews and are judged a second time on their, Evening Gown, Philosophy of Life and Talent Presentatio

The pageant is an exciting combination of talent and inner beauty along with individual fulfillment and elegance. More than a "beauty pageant" it is what America is about . . . a re-affirmation of life and self worth, of laughter and tears, of inner beauty and outward charm By giving women 60 years of age and older an opportunity to display their "inner beauty," talents, and elegance, the Pageant seeks to draw attention to the achievements of senior women. The Pageant motivates and encourages women to utilize their full potential and share a positive outlook on life with others. Participants represent a cross section of America.

The Ms. Senior America Pageant is a national, not-for-profit organization that depends on sponsors and volunteers to continue to present the positive aspects of aging and to act as an educator.Sponsors include individuals, government agencies, private business, social and service organizations.
