Mother's Day 5K a Huge Success

The Berkeley Heights YMCA and Summit YMCA sponsored the 11th annual Mother’s Day 5K run/walk on Sunday, May 13 in Berkeley Heights. Over 700 runners/walkers participated in the event the proceeds of which went to support LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA, a free 12 week cancer support and recovery program for cancer survivors. Over $25,000 was raised through sponsorships, race fees and donations. Many ran or walked in memory or in honor of a family member, friend or loved one whose life has been affected by cancer. Pictured is Curemonos, a group of Latina cancer survivors who participate in the Summit YMCA program with Summit YMCA Wellness Coordinator, Susan Guber (in black t-shirt).
