MORRISTOWN, NJ - Over 45,000 people were expected to attend the Morristown Jazz and Blues Festival on the Morristown Green today.  The stage was set up on one side of the green occupying about a fourth of the site while a large audience spread across the remaining three fourths of the area.

People from a wide variety of towns, including Morristown, brought their lawn chairs and spent the afternoon listening to some of jazz legendary performers.  The loud claps after each group and a standing ovation for Bucky Pizzarelli were just a few indications of the crowd’s satisfaction and appreciation.

During an interview with Mayor Dougherty, he expressed his enjoyment of activities such as the Jazz Festival.  “Morristown is an incredible town with really engaged and active people looking to get out and do things.”

An example of the strong sense of community was evident when Mayor Dougherty spoke about Morristown’s great devastation from hurricanes Irene and Sandy.  “It was incredible the way people pulled together to help each other out.”

Mayor Dougherty was asked, “What is the biggest draw to Morristown?”

His response was, “There are many.  We have Morristown Memorial Hospital, and a downtown that contains amenities for all age groups.  I truly feel that there is something for everyone in Morristown,” added Dougherty.
