Montgomery Township 300th Anniversary 5K to Benefit Wounded Warrior

With last year's successful "It's Finally Done Fun Run" on the Route 202 Parkway raising $7,200 for the Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis Assoicaiton, Montgomery Township is bringing another 5K to the area on May 17 to celebrate its 300th anniversary.

The 5K Run will be a William F. Maule Park at Windlestrae at 9 a.m. It will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project, said Assistant to the Township Manager Stacy Crandell at Monday's supervisors meeting.

The run is limited to 300 runners, she said. Deadline to register and get a T-shirt is April 4. Entry fee is $25 with shirt, and $15 with no shirt after April 4.

Sponsorships are available until March 31. Sponsors thus far include gold sponsor NSM Insurance Group; bronze sponsors Abington Health-Lansdale Hospital, Bee Bergvall & Co., Deb Grasso of Re/Max, Doylestown Hospital, and Walsh Pancio, LLC; T-shirt sponsors Hand & Stone Massage and Spa, certified planner Ken Amey, and Wegmans; and in-kind donors Wawa, Arctic Glacier, Fulton Bank, Planet Fitness Montgomeryville, State Rep. Todd Stephens, State Sen. Stewart Greenleaf, Trader Joe's, and Univest Bank.

The elite is a presenting sponsor, at a $2,500 donation. Gold sponsor is $1,000, silver is $500, bronze is $250, T-shirt sponsor is $100 and a table at the race can be yours for $50. A presenting sponsor kicks off the race with opening remarks, and it also gets prominent display of its logo at the race and on publicity materials, the top logo on the T-shirt, a marketing table and runners' bag inserts.

Gold sponsors get a prominent name logo on the T-shirt, the name and logo on advertising, a marketing table at the event and inserts. SIlver sponsors get the name on the T-shirt, the name on all advertising and inserts. Bronze sponsors get the company name on the T-shirt and all advertisements.

Registration begins 8 a.m. on the day of the race. The course is a wheel-measured course, taking place on a paved trail and a street, according to the registration. All runners get goodie bags and all finishers get refreshments. FInish is via time clock and results are instant. Rain or shine.

The race will begin and end at the park and follow Rose Twig Lane, Mallard Drive East, Mallard Drive West and Darter Lane.

Awards will be given to the top male and female winners and runners-up in six age categories.
