MILLBURN, NJ - The Millburn Millers soccer team has a lot to prove this season after coming off their Tournament of Champions title last year. This season, the Millers hope to attain similar success and bring home another title.

The Millers recognize what they want to achieve and they know it won’t come easy. Senior Marc Langendorff said, “For this upcoming season we have been working extra hard to prepare for opening day on Sept. 12 against Montclair. We understand that we are going to need to bring our A game for each and every game because every team is going to be gunning to take us down due to our successful season last year. We play in probably the toughest conference in New Jersey (the SEC) so every game is going to be a close and tough fought game. I feel like the team this year has a whole lot of potential to do something special; it’s just a matter of putting all of the pieces we have together.” Langendorff will likely be the starting goalie for the Millers this season.

Ruddy is the newest addition to the boys soccer coaching staff and he will be filling in as the new JV coach. Along with some staff changes the Millers will embrace many new players, as they unfortunately will lose last season’s seniors. With the absence of last year’s leaders, leadership will be a necessity from this year's senior class.

The players on New Jersey’s top team recognize that last year they did something special and by adding another title ring to their hands they would make an even stronger statement. Rising junior, Sebastien Deguines said, “We are coming off of a great season and the bar is set very high. We hope to obtain similar success to last season and we know what needs to be done to achieve those goals.”

The Millers took the turf August 12 for their first tryouts of the summer. Another title is on almost every player’s mind. This is especially true for rising junior Kirk Willens who said, “We are hoping to accomplish a lot this season and since day one we have had our priorities set on what we need to do to attain success similar to last season.  We lost some good players from last year but this year's team has also gained some talent. We are looking forward to this year’s season and hopefully we can make a deep run into states.”

The first game for the Millburn boys varsity soccer team is September 12 against Montclair. Until then you can guarantee that the team will be training very hard to accomplish great things this season.
