Millburn Middle Schoolers Win Math Contest

MONTCLAIR, NJ - The team of middle school students representing Millburn took first place in the North/Central New Jersey MathCounts Regional Contest held on Saturday, Feb. 3, at Montclair State University. This regional competition was the largest in the country and included 30 schools and over 280 “mathletes” in grades 6 through 8.
Millburn 8th grader Kevin Lin and 7th grader Andy Chen from MMS came in first and second place as individuals in the contest’s Countdown round.
The team’s next challenge will be in to the MathCounts State Competition on March 9, at Rutgers Universtiy.
The MATHCOUNTS Competition Program is a national middle school coaching and competitive mathematics program that promotes mathematics achievement through a series of "bee" style contests. For more information, visit: http://mathcounts.org/competitiondates.
