MILLBURN, NJ - The Millburn Boys Basketball team has found amazing success this year and one big reason for this is senior-center, Jordan Kahn. Kahn is this month’s Athlete of the Month due in part to his high scoring performances and his electrifying blocks on opponents.

Kahn has averaged an unprecedented 2.2 blocks this year and is the Miller’s second highest scorer, averaging 8.5 points per game. Kahn, who has college potential has been looked at by several schools but opted not to partake in collegiate basketball.

TheAlternativePress sat down with Kahn recently to discuss his personal on-court success and the unstoppable force, which is the Millburn Boys Basketball team this year.

Jordan is a team player and as a senior, he has an important leadership role on the squad. On and off the court, Jordan brings a unique perspective and is always looking out to better the team.

“On the court I am a defensive specialist," Kahn said.  "I also am there on offense for any guard to dump the ball off to in the low post and finish. Our guards do a really good job of getting me the ball. Off the court, I feel like a lot of the younger, inexperienced kids on the team look to me to ask for advice because they know I am there and I have experience as a 4-year high school basketball player and as a senior.”

As a senior, Kahn has had different types of locker-room experiences and has sat on several different teams. This year’s team has only lost two games thus far and made a nice run into the county tournament. When asked about the legacy that he hopes to leave after his High School basketball career Kahn said, “Before the season began I asked everyone 'How do you want to be remembered?'  Everyone agreed that this would be our season to dominate our schedule. I really couldn't have asked for a better season.”

Kahn is eager to find success in the state tournament and recognizes that this year’s team is special. Kahn and the rest of the Miller squad hope to extend their success and season as far as possible and attain great accomplishment this year.

Kahn is one of the first people to recognize that the team would not have be as prosperous without their amazing coaching staff, headed by Roger Blind. Kahn fully understands how the coaching staff, especially coach blind has helped develop this year’s unstoppable team.

“I can go on about coach Blind for hours. He's a basketball guru," Kand said. "The reason why we are winning this year is because of the style of basketball he wants us playing, which is a slow pace offense and strict defense. Coach is always on me in practice after every mistake I make but instead of losing my confidence from being yelled at, I keep my confidence and correct the mistake I made. Having coach Leonardis for two year has helped a significant amount with being strong mentally. Also, Coach Dave Drechsel provides energy to practice everyday.”

It is evident that Kahn recognizes the people around him who help make the team as a whole successful. While this powerful center may be humble, it is hard to forget about his abilities as a leader, scorer, and blocker.
