LONG VALLEY, NJ - To celebrate “100 Days ‘Til Camp,” Meadowbrook Country Day Camp, a camp many local children go to, which is located in Long Valley, held a charitable Facebook event on Saturday, March 22 asking old and new campers, staff, alumni and families to wear their favorite Meadowbrook shirts on March 22 and to post a photo of themselves donning the shirt on Facebook. Meadowbrook said it would donate $5 to SCOPE (Summer Camp Opportunities Promote Education) for every picture posted that day.
With a final count of 98 photos, Meadowbrook Country Day Camp will be donating $500 to SCOPE on behalf of its campers and staff at the SCOPE annual dinner, which is being co-chaired by Meadowbrook Country Day Camp owner Roz Buck on April 10 in New York City.
"It means a lot to us to be able to donate to SCOPE on behalf of our campers and staff, not only because it is such a worthy cause, but because the donation comes from the heart--in this case 98 hearts," said Jed Buck, owner of Meadowbrook Country Day Camp.
"We are really getting excited for camp this summer and have so many new things to show campers like our new Wibit Kayaks for our private lake, our new 9-Square in the Air game, and new additions to our fleet of Pedal Go Karts," said Roz. "These new activities join our time-honored favorites like the extensive Challenge Course, GaGa, Archery, Swimming, and so much more. As we cross "100 Days 'til Camp," we wanted to make sure our campers and staff members are getting excited for opening day--by wearing their camp shirts."
SCOPE is a nonprofit organization with a mission to provide children in need with the edge to succeed in life through the summer camp experience. Since 1991, SCOPE has provided camp scholarships for more than 20,000 children from low-income communities. They accomplish this by funding camp scholarships at not-for-profit resident camps where children will benefit from a positive, safe and healthy environment led by excellent adult role models, who will help them develop their full potential
Meadowbrook Country Day Camp offers a “traditional” day camp program run by a mature and professional staff, with a unique focus on building life skills through the T.I.G.E.R. program, in which children are recognized for embodying five core qualities—Teamwork, Integrity, Generosity, Enthusiasm and Respect.
