March 8: Prosecutor's Domestic Violence Event

PATERSON, NJ - Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes is pleased to announce that the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office will host a Domestic Violence Symposium on International Women’s Day, Friday, March 8, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The purpose of the Symposium is to raise awareness about domestic violence and its impact on individuals and communities, and to educate and empower the community to address and prevent this pivotal human rights issue.  The prosecution of domestic violence cases will be explained and local community resources will be highlighted.

Special keynote speaker will be Passaic resident Kesha Stowe-Spence, a third generation domestic violence survivor, author of “Healing My Soul,” and founder of the Elizabeth Mae Eaddy Foundation.   Additional featured speakers include former Police Captain Donna Roman Hernandez, a domestic violence survivor and founder of Blue Force Films Productions; and from the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, Chief Assistant Prosecutor Gina Pfund, Chief Assistant Prosecutor Joseph Del Russo, and Senior Assistant Prosecutor Gyselle Da Silva.

Representatives from a variety of community agencies and organizations will be available to answer questions and provide valuable information about community resources and services.  

The Symposium will be held on Friday, March 8, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Passaic County Community College, One College Boulevard Ellison Street entrance), with breakfast and registration at 8:30 a.m.  A light lunch will be served at 12:00.   

This event is free and open to the public.
