Maplewood Mail Carrier Robbed at Gunpoint

MAPLEWOOD, NJ – A Maplewood mail carrier was robbed at gunpoint on Tuesday afternoon, March 25, while delivering mail in the 200 block of Laurel Avenue, according to Maplewood Police.

The unidentified postal service worker was approached by two black males, one armed with a handgun. The suspects demanded the mail carrier hand over a cell phone and money.  They then fled the scene on foot eastbound on Laurel Avenue. The mail carrier was unharmed.

The suspects are both described as being approximately twenty years old, and six feet tall, with slim builds. 

The incident is under investigation by the Maplewood Police Department Detective Bureau and the United States Postal Inspectors Office.  Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the Maplewood Police Detective Bureau at 973-761-7926.
