Mandy Patinkin Headlines “Live from Greater MetroWest”

Whippany, NJ, February 14, 2013 — Tony and Emmy Award-winning actor Mandy Patinkin, star of Showtime’s Homeland, will be the special guest at "Live from Greater MetroWest" on Thursday, March 7, at the Hilton Parsippany.

A festive, social event, the evening will begin at 6:45 p.m. with a cocktail hour and light dinner followed by dessert and the program. Michelle Cohen and Steve Samansky of Short Hills and Cathy and Steven Tabak of Westfield are event chairs.

Patinkin has a long and illustrious career as an actor in theater, film, and television, and as a singer and recording artist. Highlights include his 1980 Broadway debut in his Tony award-winning role as Che in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Evita and in 1984, his starring role as George in the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical, Sunday in the Park with George. In 1991, he returned to Broadway in the Tony Award-winning musical The Secret Garden. Six years later, he performed a sold-out engagement of his one-man show, Mandy Patinkin in Concert, with all profits benefiting five charitable organizations.

Patinkin won a 1995 Emmy Award for his performance in the CBS series Chicago Hope. He currently stars in the Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning Showtime Original Series, Homeland, as CIA Division Chief Saul Berenson.

Live from Greater MetroWest benefits Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ. Federation cares for people in need locally, in Israel, and around the world. Among the many programs Federation supports are: job training and placement services for the unemployed; crisis counseling for families; supportive services for seniors; Jewish identity building initiatives; programs/services for people with special needs and their families; Israel education and advocacy; leadership development; and Birthright Israel.

A minimum gift of $750 (by individual or couple) to the 2013 UJA Campaign enables attendance at the event; there is a special minimum gift of $360 for first-time donors or those ages 45 or younger (individual or couple). The couvert is $75 per person.
