PATERSON, NJ - An 18-year-old city man was beaten during a failed robbery attempt Sunday night near the intersection of Main and Levine streets.
The victim walked into St. Joseph's Medical Center at around 10:15 p.m. bleeding from his head and his face. He told police that he was walking on the street earlier in the evening when he was approached by two black males, one of whom carried a handgun, according to Lt. Bert Ribeiro.
The suspects attempted to take the victim's wallet and cell phone, but he resisted and was pushed to the ground, where he was kicked and beaten before the suspects ran off without having stolen anything.
