Man Arrested in Double-Shooting in August

PATERSON, NJ - An alert city police officer on patrol in the 4th Ward Friday during the weekend spotted a suspect in an August shooting and arrested him without incident, according to authorities.
Officer William Niebanck was driving near the corner of 10th Avenue and E. 26th Street at 11:59 pm on Friday when he spotted Clarence Jones of Warren Street and took him into custody, police said.
Jones was charged with two counts of attempted murder in a shooting on August 31 near the corner of Park Avenue and E. 24th Street in which authorities saud he wounded two people multiple times. The shooting involved a prior dispute between Jones and his victims, police said.
Jones was idnetified as the suspect through an investigation conducted by Detectives Dave Tanis and Ador Flores of the Cease-Fire unit.
