Man Accused of Falsely Reporting Carjacking and Kidnapping

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ – A 36-year-old Berkeley Heights resident and South Orange business owner, was arrested on Sunday for falsely reporting a carjacking and kidnapping in South Orange.
The man allegedly reported that a carjacking and kidnapping had occurred in South Orange on Saturday. A detective assigned to work the case determined during the course of the investigation that the man, “had fabricated the incident and no such crime had taken place in South Orange.”
Details are still emerging, but an arrest has been made in Est Orange in connection with this incident and it appears that he may have been the victim of a crime there, but had reported it as having happened in South Orange instead.
