Friday, October 19, 2012 • 12:00am
Continuo Arts music lovers and supporters will celebrate at the fourth annual “Making Musical Dreams Come True” Gala on Saturday, November 3rd, marking a successful four years of bringing music to our communities and around the world. Gala guests will enjoy an elegant evening of entertainment, dinner and silent auction.
Alexander Kariotis and his Rock Opera Orchestra are the featured entertainment for the evening. In concert after concert Kariotis has been wowing audiences of all ages and receiving nothing but rave reviews and standing ovations. According to Kariotis, he was introduced to rock at age nine when he lost both his eyebrows setting off homemade pyrotechnics for his big brother’s band. From rock he went on to hearing Luciano Pavarotti sing at Ravinia, became so inspired that he auditioned and won a scholarship to study opera at the Mannes Conservatory of Music in New York City. From there he continued both rock and opera, receiving a full scholarship from UCLA to continue his studies in opera, and then moving on to Europe to study with Luciano Pavarotti’s teacher, Arrigo Pola and the renowned operatic tenor, Gianni Raimondi. Alex and his group are unique in that he is truly a crossover artist. He has lived in both worlds and unites the fans in both these genres with his magnetic personality and the innovative music he writes.
John Conti is accompanist, arranger, and composer for the Rock Opera Orchestra as well as accompanist for the Continuo Arts Symphonic Chorus and ensembles. He is a graduate of the Peabody Conservatory of Music and has extensive post-graduate education. With numerous credits to his name, he is also a composer and orchestrator for movies, including award-winning independent features such as “Black Eyed Susan”,”Mass of Angels” and “Shot”.
