Major Water Main Break in New Providence Causing Traffic Delays

NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - A water main break at the intersection of Pearl Street and Hawthorne drive is causing traffic delays, and parents of Allen W. Roberts students are asked to allocate additional time for after-school pickups.
Residents also should plan alternate routes to avoid the area.
Police said the break happened this afternoon while crews were doing road construction. The rupture caused significant damage to the roadway and flooding in the immediate area.
Police said they will keep the public updated on the situation as they hear from the water company as to the extent of the damage.
