Madison Junior School students celebrated the end of a new poetry and creative writing workshop with a poetry reading at Drip Café in Madison on Friday, July 17. The four week workshop, newly added to Madison's Summer Arts program, gave students the opportunity to explore creative writing outside the classroom with a special emphasis on publication and sharing of students' work. Participating students included sixth, seventh and eighth graders at Madison Junior School. "I had so much fun during the workshop. I enjoyed writing and sharing my poetry," commented eighth grader Sara Mikula.

After reading his poem entitled "Yankees," sixth grader Andy Jung commented, "At first, I disliked poetry, but this class changed my mind. I enjoyed writing and it was fun."

The instructor for this summer writing workshop was Paige Henry, a Madison resident and Language Arts teacher at Madison Junior School. "I was so impressed with the students' work and cannot wait to offer this program again next summer!" said Mrs. Henry.
