Madison Police Blotter for Week of October 31, 2012

On October 31, 2012 at approximately 10:30 pm, Ptl Kevin Boone arrested 41 year old Devin Kenney of Florham Park, NJ. Boone responded to the area of Park Avenue and Ridgedale Avenue on report of a driver who nearly struck another Madison Police Officer. Ptl. Carmine DeCaro, who was off duty at the time, advised that he was adjusting the barrels on Park Avenue which were in place because the road was shut down due to downed trees and power lines. After nearly being struck by Kenney, who allegedly disregarded the road closure, DeCaro made contact with her and detected an odor of alcoholic beverage emanating from her breath. Boone responded to the scene and had Kenney perform field sobriety tests. Kenney was then arrested and charged with driving while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. She was released into the care and custody of her mother pending a court appearance.

On November 3, 2012 at approximately 7:00pm, Ptl Paul Papamarkos arrested 53 year old Edward Harding of Boonton, NJ. While entering the parking lot of the Madison Dunkin Donuts, Harding and his wife stopped in traffic to let some individuals cross the street. While the individuals crossed the street, a minor confrontation took place. Harding then entered the Dunkin Donuts to make a purchase. During that time, one of the males walked up to Harding’s vehicle and confronted his wife. After having words, the male allegedly spit on Harding’s vehicle. Harding observed this incident while he was exiting the Dunkin Donuts. Harding allegedly struck the male several times in the head and face causing injury. Harding was arrested and charged with Simple Assault. He was released on his own recognizance pending a court appearance.

On November 7, 2102 at approximately 2:20 am, Ptl Matthew Mirabella arrested 18 year old Madeline McDonough of Baltimore, MD. Mirabella was detailed to Drew University on report of a student in custody for CDS violations. According to Drew Public Safety officers, McDonough was found to be in possession of marijuana, unlawful prescription pills, and paraphernalia following an administrative search of her dorm room. Drew Public Safety had responded to McDonough’s dorm room due to reports that the odor of burnt marijuana was emanating from the room. Ptl Mirabella took custody of McDonough and transported her to headquarters for processing. McDonough was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of a schedule I narcotic, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released on her own recognizance pending a court appearance.

The following are some of the calls for service that the Madison Police Department handled during the past week: 14 Motor Vehicle Crashes, 32 Medical Calls, 55 Alarm Calls, 8 Animal Complaints, 23 Assist Citizen Calls, 2 Motor Vehicle Lockouts, and 6 Calls to assist another Police Agency.

All defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
