MADISON, NJ - The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning that includes Morris County and the borough of Madison for Thursday night and Friday.

According to noaa.gov, the National Weather Service's official website, the warning is in effect from 6 p.m. Thursday through 1 p.m. Friday. Snow is expected to overspread the Morris County area sometime after 4 p.m., with snow becoming heavy, widespread and windblown during the overnight hours.

Wind gusts overnight could exceed 30 mph, with temperatures falling into the low teens and between 4 and 8 inches of snow expected to fall. On Friday, temperatures could dip to their lowest levels locally in several years, with a forecast for actual temperatures (before the wind chill is factored in) of close to zero degrees.

While no announcements have been made as of late morning on Thursday, it is likely that, after returning for one day at the end of the Christmas vacation, schools could either be closed or subject to delayed openings on Friday.
