MADISON, NJ - As the 7-5-1 Madison Dodgers came out on the field this Friday afternoon on Senior Day to face the Parsippany Redhawks, they were looking for a repeat of their performance earlier this season when they decisively beat the Redhawks, but Friday was a different ballgame.
Both teams showed a lot of heart and hustle in the first half, but after the first half, neither team managed to capitalize on their chances and the score remained knotted at zero.
During halftime the Dodgers honored their seniors on Senior Day but those good feelings unfortunately did not translate into a win.
As the second half began, the Dodgers were looking to put a few kicks past Redhawks' goal keeper Sebstain Garcia. However, despite a strong second half by the Dodgers, they were unable to score on Garcia.
At approximately the 60th minute of the game, John Pierre Congolino of Parsippany received a pass from Mahadye Paniahie and buried it past Madison goaltender Sean Haughey, giving Parsippany a 1-0 lead. This would be the only goal of the afternoon, as the Redhawks went on the win the game 1-0, despite a well played second half by the Dodgers.
“The halftime ceremony was nice, but it slowed down a little bit of our momentum following the first half,” said Madison Senior Jack Ranney.
Goaltender Sean Haughey of Madison finished the night with 6 saves while Redhawks' goalie Sebstain Garcia finished the night with 10 saves.
With the loss, the Dodgers fall to 7-6-1. They will face Whippany Park on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 4 p.m. in Madison.
