FLORHAM PARK, NJ – The London Day School held its kindergarten graduation ceremony on Thursday afternoon. Families gathered on the school’s lawn and the students proceeded down the front walkway to Edward Elgar’s “Pomp and Circumstance.”

All stood for the pledge of allegiance. The students then sang George M. Cohan’s “You’re a Grand Old Flag.”

Danielle Lindner, founder and director of The London Day School, addressed the attendees.

“There are only two lasting bequests we can give our children: One is roots; the other is wings,’” Lindner said, referencing a statement by journalist Hodding Carter. “I am proud to say that each one of these children have been giving me academic, social, and emotional roots, leaving me to lift their wings and fly. They have learned so much. They have remained eager and enthusiastic and, they have grown in so many ways.”

Ms. Nina, the kindergarten teacher, congratulated the students.

She was honored to have taught the graduating class and encouraged them to “always be your best and be a problem-solver.” Nina concluded by conducting a song the students learned as a part of the “Super Kids” program, which developed their reading and writing skills.

Ms. Dina, the afternoon kindergarten teacher, spoke to the loving bond she has formed with each student. Ms. Tony, the physical education instructor, likewise noted her affection for the graduating class; she also reminded the children what “G.Y.M.” stands for: “Get Yourself Moving.”

Lindner thanked Ms. Hannah, the art teacher, for her outstanding efforts.

The students sang about how they have grown both physically and intellectually this past year, followed by a rendition of Frank Sinatra’s “New York, New York” that celebrated their academic success thus far and looked hopefully forward to next year.

Lindner, with Nina right beside her, presented each student with a diploma, before a rendition of Henry van Dyke’s “The Hymn of Joy” celebrated the positive values the young students have attained at The London Day School.
