MADISON, NJ - Lyric Theater Academy, founded and directed by Chatham resident Michael Callahan, is now registering students for the fall session.
“I am thrilled to be opening Lyric Theater Academy in Madison this fall," Callahan said. "I have a long history of providing first-class instruction in the performing arts and look forward to bringing this passion to the area my family has called home for the past ten years."
This fall two classes are available: Broadway Busters and Broadway Bound. These classes will focus on acting, public speaking and movement skills with high-energy, fun activities. Private vocal instruction, coaching and audition preparation is also offered.
Broadway Busters, for grades 2 through 4, will meet once a week on Tuesdays or Wednesdays from 4:30 tp 5:30 p.m. Broadway Bound is for grades 5 through 8 and will meet once a week on Tuesdays or Wednesdays from 6 to 7 p.m.
Classes will run from Sept. 17 to Nov. 21 and will culminate in a performance on Nov 22. All classes will be held at Madison Presbyterian Church in Madison. Students may register online at www.lyrictheateracademy.com.
“Whether your child is already active in the arts or looking to gain confidence and experience performing and speaking in front of others, Lyric Theater Academy will be a fun and nurturing place for them to grow through creative expression,” Callahan said.
Callahan attended the prestigious Eastman School of Music where he studied Vocal Performance and Music Education. As a performer specializing in art songs and operatic repertoire, Callahan’s voice has been featured across the country and abroad as well as on live radio broadcasts.
In recent years, his professional career has been focused on teaching and directing various choruses and lyric theater productions. He is also a certified K-12 music teacher, supervisor and principal.
