LIVINGSTON, NJ - Mark Dunec is looking for your vote this June. A 10-year Livingston resident, Dunec is running in the Democratic primary this summer in hopes of becoming the 11th district’s newest Representative.
Hoping to unseat 20-year incumbent Republican Rodney Frelinghuysen, Dunec said he is passionate about bringing fresh, creative ideas and solutions to the 54 municipalities in the district including communities in Morris, Sussex, Passaic, and Essex Counties, which he said is lacking.
“I’m a problem solver, not a career politician,” Dunec said. “I’m running because I want to get people back to work, pay down our national debt and encourage investment.”
A “proud Canadian American,” Dunec is a management consultant for FTI Consulting where he leads the agency’s real estate advisory practice. A self-proclaimed “quantitative numbers guy,” with an MBA in Finance, he’d like to serve on the House Budget Committee if elected.
“I consider myself the Democratic Paul Ryan,” he said. “Everyone says how they want to grow the economy, but no one is saying how. But I am. We need to eliminate the C-Corporate Tax, mandate minimum earnings distributions of 35 percent, and grow our economy through spending.”
His opponents in the June 3 primary include: Lee Anne Brogowski and Brian Murphy, but Dunec is confident, saying he has been endorsed by all four Democratic county organizations and five building trade councils in the district. He said he even has Republican volunteers working on his campaign.
“One-third of my staff are Republicans,” he notes. “There’s a lack of leadership in our district right now and Frelinghuysen isn’t tackling major issues or bringing any ideas or solutions to the table. He’s just voting. I solve problems and I don’t care if you’re a Democrat or Republican, I just want to move the country forward by embracing good ideas wherever they come from.”
Dunec is married to Dr. Caryn Borger, an endocrinologist who owns a private practice in Florham Park. His two children, David, 10, and Renee, 8, attend Joseph Kushner Hebrew Academy in Livingston. To learn more about Dunec and his campaign, visit his website at www.markdunecforcongress.com.
